UO's two-building East Campus plan is down to one for now
The first five-story building remains on track for fall 2027; the planned neighbor at 17th and Moss does not.
The University of Oregon's two-building East Campus housing plan is a one-building project for the foreseeable future. A UO spokesperson told Lookout Eugene-Springfield that the second residence hall planned near 17th Avenue and Moss Street is on hold.
The university made the decision during a summer budget review as it expects fewer first-year students. Nearby residents had opposed the scale of the second building, but UO attributed the pause to enrollment and budget conditions.
Construction on the first phase continues. That seven-story residence hall is still scheduled to open in fall 2027, so the plan is reduced rather than departed.
