Source linkTITLE: Special Education Classified Resource Room EA, .875 FTE (7 hours per day) PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position assists the Special Education teacher in establishing and maintaining a climate of learning within the SPED Resource Room Program. Must exhibit a genuine understanding of children, and be able to provide for a wide range of student developmental needs in a variety of settings. Learn and follow direct guidance as outlined by SPED case manager/teacher and documented student IEP's or other plans, and then be able to take initiative in responding to student's academic, emotional and physical needs, including discipline and behavior management. Due to the interpersonal nature of training for and working with special needs children, the need for a positive attitude and warm personality are considered essential. May need to assist with hygiene and personal needs of students. May need to assist with physical management of aggressive students, and actively use district directed behavior management techniques and personal protective equipment.
