Working closely with the Retail Manager and the Director of Retail, the Assistant Manager supervises Associates, Leads, Community Service Workers, and Volunteers. The Assistant Manager models BRING's mission and values, coaches staff, promotes accountability, and ensures consistent implementation of organizational policies, procedures, and safety standards. The Assistant Manager serves as the Manager-on-Duty as assigned and assumes responsibility for daily store operations in the absence of the Retail Manager within established policies and procedures. The Assistant Manager is expected to work across all areas of the retail operation, including Receiving, Retail Floor, and Cashiering, as assigned. The Assistant Manager is an hourly employee reporting to the Retail Manager and/or Director of Retail. RESPONSIBILITIES MANAGERIAL ' Implements receiving and retail program plans and procedures. ' Maintains professional relationships with all members of the management team, employees, customers, and volunteers. ' Maintains orderly and clean facilities including receiving, processing, staff break areas, workshop areas, indoor and outdoor retail areas, and customer service area. SUPERVISION ' Models and acts in accordance with BRING's missions and values. ' Helps train employees, including mission, values, policies, procedures, products, pricing, safety, and equipment. ' Ensures appropriate staffing levels for all areas during each shift, including lunch and breaks. ' Enforces good cash handling procedures. ' Sets daily work plan for individual employees'assignments with specific tasks and timelines. ' Informs Management of any staffing absences. SAFETY ' Models best practice safety procedures. ' Ensures the safety of employees, customers, and volunteers in all work environments. ' Educates current and new employees on safety policies, procedures, and best practices. ' Documents near misses, injuries and accidents and conducts investigations in a timely manner. ' Maintains BRING's and OSHA's safety policies and standards. MATERIALS MANAGEMENT Processing ' Ensures efficient handling of incoming materials (from public and MRP), maximizing value and minimizing waste. ' Ensures appropriate pricing of materials. ' Ensures tracking of donor count. ' Ensures proper recycling. ' Ensures proper loading, strapping, and transport of materials. Merchandizing ' Oversees creation of displays and organization of materials to maximize income, while creating a dynamic, fun customer experience. ' Ensures that all materials are clearly and fairly priced. ' Manages inventory, including sales, promotions, specials, and featured products; also manages merchandise turnover (backstock). ' Responsible for the overall appearance of the warehouse and retail area. OTHER ACCOUNTABILITIES ' Represents BRING at trade shows and other community events as needed. ' Performs other related
