Springfield has eight different ways onto a city board
Applications are open through 5 p.m. Oct. 1 for transportation, budgeting, historic, library, arts, museum, planning and police advisory roles.

Springfield is recruiting residents and other eligible community members for eight city boards, committees and commissions. The list reaches from bicycle and pedestrian policy to library services, local history, planning and police advice.
The openings are not interchangeable. Some require city residency; others allow property owners, business operators or people inside the urban growth boundary. The SEDA budget roles have district and voter requirements, while the Historic Commission gives preference to relevant professional experience.
Applications are due by 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1. Read the eligibility for the particular seat before applying, then use Springfield's Get Involved application and the submission route listed by the city.
