The Shedd keeps musical crosscurrents moving through Aug. 22
Oregon Festival of American Music continues through Aug. 22 with jazz, films, talks and songs that crossed oceans before reaching the American songbook.
The Oregon Festival of American Music is underway at The Shedd and continues through Aug. 22. This summer's program follows the routes music took into American jazz and popular song, traveling through Brazil, France, Eastern Europe, the British Isles and American roots traditions without asking the calendar to choose only one direction.
Friday runs from a 9 a.m. screening of "Pal Joey" to "The American Love Song" at 7:30 p.m., with an afternoon concert and a 5 p.m. talk between them. Programs continue Saturday, Sunday and most of next week.
