Lane County put the driver’s-ed scavenger hunt on one page
A free LCOG site now gathers Oregon permit steps, learning resources and local driving-school options for teens and families.

Lane County teens can now start the licensing process without assembling it from a dozen browser tabs. Lane Council of Governments and the Lane County Driver Education Alliance launched LaneTeenDriver.org, a free hub for permit and license steps, learning resources, parent information and local driver-education providers.
The launch addresses a plain local gap: Lane County schools no longer offer driver education. The site does not create a countywide class or promise financial help; those remain longer-term goals. It does put the current choices and Oregon requirements in one place.
The safety case is not abstract. LCOG says drivers ages 14 to 20 were involved in 53 severe-injury crashes and four fatal crashes in Lane County in 2024. Families can use the new site to compare the next steps, then confirm availability and cost directly with a listed provider.
Field notes

Why it matters: Families have been navigating permits, training options and licensing requirements without school-based driver education or one local guide.
Who may be affected: Lane County teens learning to drive and the parents, guardians and educators helping them.
