Florence's humane-society clinic has seen more than 1,600 animals
The appointment-only clinic's first year included spay and neuter work, vaccines, microchips, dental care, imaging and emergency cases for west Lane County pets.

More than 1,600 animals have gone through Oregon Coast Humane Society's Florence clinic during its first year. That number turns a building on Rhododendron Drive into something easier to picture: a steady line of vaccinations, spay and neuter appointments, microchips, dental work, imaging and urgent cases.
The clinic is a practical addition in a part of Lane County where specialized animal care can require a long drive. It remains appointment-only. The official page lists phone and text contacts, and people should confirm availability, fees and any assistance before bringing an animal.
A public first-anniversary open house is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 27, from 4 to 6 p.m. The party is optional; calling first for care is not.
