The last Ferret Agility Trials run Sunday, with quarters encouraged
Spectators watch free at Emerald Park; carnival games cost 25 cents and participating ferrets need a leash or carrier.
After more than 30 years, the Ferret Agility Trials are holding their final meet Sunday at Emerald Park. The competition slate includes a tube run, cup tipping, a strength contest and a yawning event, which may be the only athletic discipline improved by losing focus entirely.
The event runs noon to 4 p.m. at 1400 Lake Drive in the River Road area. Spectators can watch for free. Carnival games cost 25 cents, participating ferrets require a $3 registration donation, and organizers say ferrets must be leashed or carried. Other pets should stay home.
The shelter behind the event is closing, and proceeds will support Little Critter Crew's work with homeless pets. The finality is real; so is the request to arrive with quarters.
