DesiFest carries Friday's ArtWalk from pookkalam to global bass
The downtown route starts at 5:30 p.m.; its pavilion program moves through South Asian floor art, dance, spoken word, guitar and DJ Anjali's closing set.

Friday's ArtWalk begins at the Farmers Market Pavilion with a program that has an actual arc. Oregon DesiFest's Roots and Wings starts with classical dance and pookkalam—the temporary floral floor art of Kerala—then moves through spoken word, Bollywood hip hop and original guitar before DJ Anjali closes the night with global bass.
The pavilion marketplace and ArtWalk guide run from 5:30 to 8 p.m.; DesiFest continues until 9. Galleries and arts venues across downtown are participating, and Lane Arts Council says the ArtWalk is free. The organizer also plans to post a free LTD bus-pass code on the event page Friday. Check that page before boarding rather than assuming a general fare waiver.
