About this event

The World Music Series welcomes Leticia "Tish" Hinjosa to Berwick Hall for the opening of its 2026-27 season. Born to Mexican immigrant parents and the youngest of 13 children, Tish brings her life experience, growing up in Texas, living in the Southwest and Europe to bear on her bilingual form of songwriting. Her career includes having her album “Culture Swing” being named Folk Album of The Year by the National Association of Independent Record Distributers (NAIRD), her “Cada Niño”, a bilingual (Spanish-English) children’s record winning the prestigious “Parent’s Choice Gold Award” and recording “Frontejas” a collection of original and traditional Spanish language songs celebrating the Texas-Mexican border. This free concert is sponsored by the School of Music and Dance and the Oregon Humanities Center.
