The Oregon Horse Center is excited to welcome competitors, horses, and spectators for its upcoming National Mountain Trail Championships and Greenies shows. These events will showcase the partnership between horse and rider as they navigate challenging Mountain Trail obstacles that test precision, confidence, athleticism, and trust. Our Mountain Trail competition brings the great outdoors right under our roof, with artistically crafted trail courses almost entirely constructed from natural materials. Horses and riders maneuver through obstacles designed to demonstrate balance, control, adaptability, and the close connection between horse and handler. From experienced competitors to those developing their skills, the shows celebrate horsemanship, sportsmanship, and the versatility of the horse, all from the comfort of an indoor arena! During the first weekend, October 31st to November 1st, our National Mountain Trail Greenies show will take place. The Greenies show is an opportunity for green—unexperienced—riders or horses to try their hand at Mountain Trail obstacles in a supportive and welcoming environment. Aside from time on the trail course, there will also be a multitude of opportunities for exhibitors to connect and interact with each other through social hours and a Q&A session with the show’s judges, as well as getting all dressed up for our Halloween costume class! Following Greenies, our National Mountain Trail Championships show kicks off! Taking place November 4th through 7th, our Championship show takes Mountain Trail to the next level, bringing in the best of the best riders and horses. There will also be unique fun classes such as Canine Companion, Bareback, Bridleless, and Ride One/Lead One, which pushes our exhibitors’ and their horses to the next level of excellence, proving that good horsemanship is not only a sport and an art, but also a darn good time! Despite 20+ years of history, our National Mountain Trail Championships show still somehow gets bigger and better every single year.
