Apply for an unarmed security guard certification

To work as an unarmed security guard in Oregon you must be 18, finish a 14-hour basic course, be fingerprinted and send an application packet.

Steps

5 steps
  1. Check the minimum standardsYou need to be 18 or older with a high school diploma, GED or college degree, and pass a good moral fitness background check.
  2. Complete the 14-hour unarmed basic courseYour instructor records completion on Form PS-6, which goes in your application packet.
  3. Get fingerprintedUse a fingerprint card from DPSST or complete Fieldprint electronic fingerprints.
  4. Put your application packet togetherThe packet has Form PS-1, fingerprints, Form PS-6, and Form PS-20 if you are already employed.
  5. Pay the feesPay by cashier check, money order, business check or a card authorization form.

  • Form PS-1 application
  • Fingerprint card or Fieldprint proof
  • Form PS-6 (14-hour course affidavit)
  • Form PS-20 if you are employed
Certification fees are nonrefundable.
