Drop off household needles and sharps for free

Household needles and lancets go in a red, rigid, leak-proof, puncture-resistant container, then to a county transfer station.

Steps

3 steps
  1. Put sharps in the right containerPharmacies sell sharps containers. Coffee cans, drink bottles and milk jugs are not acceptable.
  2. Check the station's days and hoursDays and hours differ by station and can change; the county page lists each site's address and open days.
  3. Take it to a transfer stationAll county transfer stations take household sharps except Sharps Creek.

Bring

  • Red, rigid, leak-proof sharps container
Group homes, health-care facilities and other commercial offices cannot use transfer stations for sharps.

    3. Drive to Glenwood and follow the signsEnter through the center lane and follow signs to the collection center. Stay in your vehicle; staff unload for you.
