Rural transfer stations change hours and prices Monday
Lane County is raising garbage fees, changing two stations' weekly schedules and permanently closing the Walton site on Aug. 10.
The next dump run may cost more or happen on a different day. Starting Monday, Lane County's rural transfer stations raise garbage fees by 5%, lift the minimum charge from $15 to $25 and end the $1 discount for loads that include recyclables.
Creswell will close Wednesdays and Thursdays and open Fridays and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Veneta will close Mondays and Tuesdays and open Wednesday through Saturday during the same hours. Several smaller stations are trimming hours, and the Walton site closes permanently.
The county says the changes are meant to match staffing and operating costs. Check the county's current station page before loading the truck; the right answer now depends more than usual on which station and which day.
