A dump run now costs more, takes more planning and cannot end in Walton
Lane County's Aug. 10 waste changes raised the minimum fee, cut rural hours and permanently closed one transfer site.
The old routine for a rural Lane County dump run may no longer work. Changes that took effect Monday raised the minimum garbage fee from $15 to $25, added a 5% fee increase and reduced hours at Creswell, Veneta and many rural transfer sites.
The Walton transfer site is now permanently closed. Lane County's current garbage-and-recycling page lists the schedules for remaining locations, which matter more now that several sites operate on fewer days or shorter windows.
Check the live location page before loading the truck. A closed gate is a particularly dull way to discover a schedule changed.
