The Shedd has nine more days of musical cross-pollination
Oregon Festival of American Music continues through Aug. 22 with jazz, films, talks and songs that crossed oceans before reaching the American songbook.
The Oregon Festival of American Music is already underway, but its schedule at The Shedd stretches through Aug. 22. This year's summer program follows the routes music took into American jazz and popular song — from Brazil and France to Eastern Europe, the British Isles and American roots traditions.
Friday alone runs from a 9 a.m. screening of "Pal Joey" to "The American Love Song" at 7:30 p.m., with an afternoon concert and a 5 p.m. talk in between. The calendar continues Saturday, Sunday and most of next week.
