Creswell and Veneta candidate filings close Tuesday
Nonincumbent candidates have until August 18 to complete city paperwork for mayor or council seats.
Two west and south Lane city halls reach their candidate-filing deadline Tuesday, August 18.
Creswell will elect a mayor and three city councilors. Nonincumbent candidates must file by 5 p.m. Tuesday; candidates must be qualified electors who have lived in the city for the 12 months before the election.
Veneta has two at-large council positions on the ballot, each carrying a four-year term beginning in January. New candidates must submit their declaration and signature sheets by Tuesday. Veneta also requires candidates to be registered voters and to have lived in the city for at least 12 months.
Anyone still circulating signatures should contact the relevant city recorder before arriving. Election paperwork has an unusual resistance to dramatic last-minute entrances.
