A 50-year celebration has one last vote before Saturday
The Eugene-Springfield NAACP's anniversary Freedom Fund event is Saturday at The Shedd, and voting for its Dallas Boggs Connector Award closes Wednesday.
The Eugene-Springfield NAACP marks 50 years this Saturday at The Shedd. The branch dates its Lane County civil-rights work to 1976 and describes the Freedom Fund gathering as both an anniversary celebration and its signature annual fundraiser.
The official page lists performances from 3 to 5 p.m. in Jaqua Concert Hall. It also keeps one piece of the program open through Wednesday: public voting for the Dallas Boggs Connector Award, which recognizes people who bring the community to relationships, resources and opportunity.
The branch's page links ticket reservations and the award ballot. Check the event page before going; a 50th birthday is substantial enough without inventing a walk-up-seat guarantee.
