Cottage Grove will take a fresh look at a 100-foot tower
Thursday's City Council appeal is a de novo hearing on a proposed wireless tower at 2070 S. R Street, meaning council reviews the record and makes its own decision.
A proposed wireless tower in Cottage Grove's industrial park gets a fresh hearing Thursday night. The project calls for a 100-foot neutral-gray tower, plus a six-foot lightning rod, on part of the property at 2070 S. R Street.
Two appeals challenge the Planning Commission approval. One argues that commissioners who joined the continued hearing did not state on the record that they had reviewed the earlier materials and testimony. The other challenges the location and visual impacts. City staff says the council's de novo review means it will review the record and issue a final city decision rather than merely grading the commission's homework.
The special meeting begins at 7 p.m. in City Hall's council chambers, with Zoom and YouTube viewing links on the city page. The official record is large and the testimony rules matter, so people who plan to participate should read the agenda and appeal materials before the meeting.
