New Lane County voters have until October 13 to register
Online registration closes at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday. Paper forms need to be received by 5 p.m. if hand-delivered or postmarked that day if mailed.
The deadline for a new Oregon voter to register for the November 3 general election is Tuesday, October 13. Lane County says online registration must be completed by 11:59 p.m. Hand-delivered paper forms are due at the Elections Office by 5 p.m.; mailed forms need an October 13 postmark.
Already registered voters can still update their registration through 8 p.m. on Election Day and receive a ballot, but moving is a fine reason not to test that outer limit. Local ballots begin mailing October 15. The county points voters to Oregon's My Vote service to check their record and later track a ballot.
A public Reddit post circulating locally raised an unverified claim about voter-record security. It was not used as evidence. The deadline and registration instructions here come from Lane County Elections and the Oregon Secretary of State.
Field notes
What changed: Lane County Elections issued a dated reminder that new voters must register by October 13 for the November 3 general election.
Why it matters: Missing the new-voter deadline means waiting beyond this general election; people who moved should also make sure a ballot is sent to the right place.
Who may be affected: Eligible Lane County residents who are not registered and current voters whose name or address information has changed.
