Oakridge airport is closed through Friday for final runway work
The runway, taxiways and apron are off-limits to every aircraft, vehicle and pedestrian while crews seal joints, paint markings and finish the reconstruction.

Oakridge State Airport is in the short, absolute kind of closure: no airplanes, no helicopters, no vehicles and no pedestrians on the airfield through the end of Friday, October 9. The Oregon Department of Aviation says the runway should reopen by the end of that day, with pilots directed to current NOTAMs for the authoritative field status.
Crews are completing punch-list work after the airport's major reconstruction, including joint sealing, final markings and hydroseeding. The larger project produced a stronger 50-foot-wide runway, a new taxiway connector, new wind indicators and concrete stands built to carry heavy firefighting aircraft and support equipment.
Fixed-wing aircraft left at Oakridge when the closure began cannot depart until reopening. The staging footprint also leaves no helicopter operating area, so the whole field should be treated as closed rather than merely inconvenient.
Field notes
What changed: The rebuilt Oakridge State Airport entered its final planned closure at 8 a.m. October 6 for finishing work, with reopening expected by end of day October 9.
Why it matters: The closure affects pilots and local aviation now; the completed improvements also strengthen an east Lane County facility used by heavy wildfire-response aircraft.
Who may be affected: Pilots, aircraft owners, airport users, Oakridge residents and wildfire-response partners.
