Guide-dog puppies practice the airport before the real journey
Saturday's Eugene Airport exercise took volunteer raisers and their dogs through travel routines, including security.
The security line became part of the lesson at Eugene Airport on Saturday, when Guide Dogs for the Blind puppies practiced air travel with their volunteer raisers. The exercise included TSA screening and boarding practice.
Lookout describes trainers carrying sardines and beef liver as rewards while the dogs encountered unfamiliar noise and activity. KVAL reports that the exercise also helped airport and TSA employees better understand travel needs of people who are blind or visually impaired.
