Wildlife-trafficking payments bring probation in Eugene federal court
A California couple received three years' probation and a $10,000 fine each.
A California couple who handled $51,100 in payments connected to wildlife trafficking pleaded guilty in federal court in Eugene on October 23. Each received three years' probation and a $10,000 fine.
The Justice Department says the transactions helped move protected wildlife parts between Oregon and Vietnam. They included bear gallbladders and cougar bones sent from Oregon, and rhino-horn pieces, lion teeth and a tiger pelt imported here. Lookout's new court report independently describes the pleas and sentences.
