Rural ambulance plan clears one hurdle
Upper McKenzie's donated vehicle still needs a Springfield agreement.
A donated Upper McKenzie ambulance has a route toward carrying patients, but not an automatic authorization to start.
Lookout Eugene-Springfield reports that commissioners unanimously changed county rules November 3 to allow another ambulance provider in an existing service area, with agreements in place.
Lookout reports that the district still needs an agreement with Springfield before it can begin patient transports. Eugene Springfield Fire would continue responding in the area.
Field notes
What changed: Commissioners approved the ordinance November 3.
Why it matters: Approval is not the start of transport service.
Who may be affected: Upper McKenzie communities.
