For someone in emotional crisis or seeking ongoing mental health support.
Urgent safety: Immediate danger, a life-threatening injury, or an overdose: call 911. If you can do so safely, stay with a person at immediate risk while help is arranged. Do not wait for an ordinary counseling appointment.
- Call or text 988 for suicide or emotional crisis support; chat is available at 988lifeline.org. The service is free. A counselor asks about safety, listens, and helps plan next steps. You can also contact them about someone you are worried about.
- Lane County Crisis Line: 541-682-1001, 24 hours. Ask about mobile crisis assessment. Published team hours: Mon–Thu 24 hours; Fri–Sun 6 AM–11 PM. A phone call does not guarantee a team response.
- White Bird’s published crisis phone hours are Monday–Friday 9 AM–5 PM: 541-687-4000 or 800-422-7558. Use 988 outside those hours. Do not assume this line is staffed 24 hours.
- For ongoing care, tell intake your age, insurance, symptoms, and whether medication or counseling is the need. Ask about new-patient openings, costs, referral requirements, interpreters, and telehealth. Bring medications and insurance details if available.
- Ask for the next available appointment and an interim plan if the wait is long. Write down whom to call if symptoms get worse. A counseling listing does not mean a mobile team is available in your town.
If you cannot get help: If a provider is full, ask your insurance plan for another covered provider or call 211 for referrals. Springfield CAHOOTS requests go through 541-726-3714; White Bird publishes 11 AM–11 PM. This is police non-emergency dispatch; response and availability depend on the situation.
