Request reconsideration of a Social Security benefit decision

Ask SSA to reconsider a disability or nonmedical decision you disagree with, generally within 60 days after receiving it.

Steps

3 steps
  1. Choose the matching reconsiderationUse the disability request for a disability determination or the nonmedical request for a decision unrelated to disability.
  2. Submit online or upload the formFollow the matching online link, or complete and upload Request for Reconsideration, SSA-561-U2. Call SSA if you need help.
  3. Track the requestUse SSA’s reconsideration-status link after submitting.
Submit your request within 60 days after receiving the decision.
