Eugene Council left the Clean Energy Fund to the voters
Councilors ended Monday's special meeting without endorsing or opposing the November ballot measure.
Eugene City Council did not take a side on the Clean Energy Fund initiative Monday night. Councilors adjourned their special meeting without a vote to urge voters either for or against the November measure.
That is a meeting outcome, not a finding that the proposal is good, bad, affordable or unworkable. KLCC reported that individual councilors remain free to express personal views. City Attorney Kathryn Brotherton also told council that staff had not analyzed city costs beyond the standard elections work for a ballot initiative.
The meeting agenda allowed council to act at or after the work session. For now, the collective position is no position, and the measure stays with Eugene voters.
