Free family support travels to the parent, not the other way around
Lane County nurses and family-support specialists meet people at home or another chosen place, with English and Spanish request paths.
The county's Family & Child Health door opens in both English and Spanish, and the service itself can come to a family's home or another place they choose. Lane County says its registered nurses and family-support specialists provide one-to-one help with parenting questions and community resources, and that all of the services are free.
One of those programs is Nurse-Family Partnership. Fresh reporting says eligible first-time pregnant people enroll before the end of the second trimester and may keep working with the same nurse until the child turns two. The team travels across Lane County, including Florence, Oakridge, Cottage Grove and Junction City, and has Spanish-speaking staff.
Eligibility differs among the county's programs. Instead of guessing which name fits, families can use the county's general Pregnancy and Parent Support request form or call 541-682-8720 for current screening.
