Three rural shuttle routes make their final trips next week
LTD ends the grant-funded pilot after Sept. 3; Cottage Grove's separate Connector stays.

Next Thursday is the last service day for Lane Transit District's Rural Shuttle pilot. The prescheduled service has been carrying riders in South Lane outside Cottage Grove and Creswell, the Highway 36 corridor between Deadwood and Mapleton, and Mohawk Valley. LTD says a mid-pilot review found ridership did not support continuing the grant-funded routes.
The three schedules are different: South Lane runs Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Mohawk Valley runs Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Highway 36 runs Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Riders call 541-682-3238 to check an address and schedule a trip, generally by 4 p.m. the day before.
One similarly named service is not leaving. LTD says the on-demand Cottage Grove Connector will continue inside Cottage Grove city limits.
Field notes
What changed: LTD set Sept. 3 as the final day for its three-area Rural Shuttle pilot after evaluating ridership.
Why it matters: The routes connect rural residents with medical care, groceries and other transportation, so the end date may require a different travel plan.
Who may be affected: Riders in rural South Lane, the Highway 36 corridor between Deadwood and Mapleton, and Mohawk Valley.
