ClearShare coverage ends today before a new plan begins
Oregon says members become responsible for medical costs after Sept. 1 unless replacement coverage is in force; the old Marketplace window has closed, but individual help may still be available.
ClearShare Health coverage ends Sept. 1. Oregon regulators say the company operated as an insurer without the required state authority, and the Marketplace warns that members need different coverage to avoid being responsible for medical costs after the plan ends.
The broad ClearShare special-enrollment window ran June 15 through Aug. 14. That date has passed, but Oregon's page says some affected people may still qualify for Marketplace enrollment, including people who previously canceled. HealthCare.gov decides eligibility; a loss of this coverage does not by itself guarantee a new plan or an earlier effective date.
The state directs people with pending claims to ClearShare and coverage or cancellation questions to the Oregon Division of Financial Regulation's Consumer Advocacy Unit. Anyone choosing a Marketplace plan should also ask when it would actually begin, because coverage generally starts after plan selection and the first premium payment.
