A Victorian house opens its rooms to contemporary fiber art today
(Kin)etic places Pacific Northwest textile work inside the Shelton McMurphey Johnson House through November 15.
The Shelton McMurphey Johnson House is letting contemporary fiber art argue with the wallpaper. (Kin)etic: Contemporary Contemplations opens today inside the Victorian landmark, using work selected by curators Aidyn Dervaes and Lizi Anderson-Cleary to ask how preservation changes when a historic space admits new materials and new voices.
The opening reception runs from 4 to 6 p.m. today at 303 Willamette Street. The house also plans to stay open from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday for the First Friday ArtWalk, and the exhibition continues through November 15. The organizer page does not state admission for today's reception, so check with the house rather than arriving on an invented promise.
