Three accessible taxis start round-the-clock Eugene service today
The one-year pilot uses standard taxi fares and covers trips within Eugene’s urban growth boundary plus the airport.
Eugene starts a service today that did not exist in its local taxi or ride-share fleets yesterday: wheelchair-accessible taxis available around the clock. Direct Medical Transport converted three vehicles for the pilot. Each can carry as many as two wheelchair users, three additional passengers and service dogs.
Riders pay a standard taxi fare while the City covers the extra cost of operating accessible vehicles. Trips may begin and end within Eugene's urban growth boundary, and service also runs to and from the airport. Book by calling 541-345-1234 or through the Direct Medical Transport app. The pilot runs through September 2027, when the City plans to review use, feedback and long-term funding.
