Eugene Science Center launches World Space Week with solar viewing and discounts
The Alton Baker Park center kicks off a seven-day slate of telescope sessions, science demonstrations, and planetarium specials running October 4–10.
Eugene Science Center is marking the global celebration of World Space Week from October 4 through 10 with a full week of interactive astronomy exhibits, free demonstrations, and admission discounts.
Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1999, World Space Week commemorates science, technology, and space exploration. Beginning today, the center in Alton Baker Park is offering free daytime solar telescope viewings, meteorite touch talks, and hands-on science activities. Through October 10, visitors receive $2 off all planetarium shows and 15% off space-themed items in the science store.
Special programming later in the week includes an after-hours Member Night on October 8 with live sky shows and space-themed refreshments, as well as two sessions of "Walk the Planets," combining a planetarium presentation with a guided scale walk through the solar system model in Alton Baker Park ($10 combo registration).
