Egan confirms Eugene winter plans; Springfield site remains unsettled
Two adult sites and one youth site are confirmed in Eugene, according to Monday’s local reporting.
Eugene’s Egan Warming Centers are expected to use the same three sites as last winter, while a Springfield location is still being worked out, St. Vincent de Paul’s operations director told Lookout for its Monday report.
The program plans for November through March, activating when forecast overnight temperatures meet its below-30-degree threshold. These are winter planning details, not an announcement that shelters are open tonight.
St. Vincent de Paul’s standing program page says nightly locations can change and are posted when centers activate. Prospective volunteers should request current orientation information from the program rather than assume an older training listing applies.
Field notes
What changed: The new report confirms Eugene’s planned sites while retaining uncertainty about Springfield.
Why it matters: Planning information must not be mistaken for an open shelter or guaranteed placement.
Who may be affected: People who may need cold-weather shelter, volunteers and service partners.
