Get a free IRS tax transcript

IRS tax transcripts are free; requesting a complete photocopy of a return is a different service.

Steps

3 steps
  1. Choose the transcript typeIf you need changes made after the original return was processed, request a record of account transcript. A return transcript does not show those later adjustments.
  2. Download or order the transcriptUse an IRS Individual Online Account to view, print or download transcripts. You can order return or account transcripts by mail or the automated 800-908-9946 service.
  3. Use Form 4506-T if neededYou can request any listed transcript type by submitting Form 4506-T. Allow 5–10 calendar days for mailed transcripts.
If your address changed, do not order using your old address: the transcript will not be forwarded. Follow the IRS address-change instructions first.
