Request independent review of a denied private health-insurance claim

Oregon’s external review process lets an independent organization review qualifying health-insurance denials.

Steps

3 steps
  1. Finish internal appeals firstProceed after all internal appeal levels, unless you and the insurer agree to go straight to external review.
  2. Request review within 180 calendar daysSubmit a written request within 180 calendar days after receiving the final adverse benefit determination letter. Gather additional information you want reviewed first.
  3. Send additional documents to the assigned reviewerUse the case-assignment letter for the reviewer’s contact information and case time frames. Send documents directly to that organization.
