Your dump run costs more Monday — and Walton is done
Lane County’s minimum disposal charge rises from $15 to $25 on August 10. Walton closes permanently, and Creswell and Veneta lose open days.
The cheap dump run gets noticeably less cheap Monday. Lane County’s minimum garbage charge jumps from $15 to $25, disposal fees rise 5%, and the $1 recycling discount disappears.
The service map shrinks too. Walton closes permanently. Creswell will open only Friday and Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Veneta will run Wednesday through Saturday on the same hours. The county says the changes are part of an effort to cover growing costs across the waste system.
If you normally use one of those sites, check the county’s live location list before loading the truck. Arriving on the old schedule with a bed full of branches is an extremely avoidable way to learn about county finance.
Field notes
What changed: New fees and reduced transfer-station service take effect Monday, August 10.
Why it matters: The minimum charge rises by two-thirds, and several west and south Lane residents will have fewer nearby disposal days.
Who may be affected: Anyone hauling garbage to Lane County transfer stations, especially Walton, Creswell and Veneta users.
