Junction City's Scandinavian Festival turns 65
The free four-day festival opens Thursday with more than 90 vendor booths and a town ready to dance in several centuries at once.
Junction City starts its 65th Scandinavian Festival Thursday, Aug. 13, and keeps going through Sunday. Admission and entertainment are free, and the festival expects more than 90 vendor booths alongside music, dance, food and historical displays.
The official festival page lists the dates plainly and describes the event as volunteer-run. KLCC reports that performers and visitors will range from 1800s regional dress to Viking attire, with a community dance each day. This year's commemorative pin puts a tiny tomte on a Dala horse, with Swedish, Danish, Finnish and Norwegian flags tucked into the design.
The festival is at 195 W. Fifth Ave. in Junction City. Use the official daily schedule and map; four days of free entertainment is still four different timetables.
