Springfield's classified school staff win two years of 4% raises
The new contract also gives educational assistants earlier access to student plans and more money for professional development.
Springfield's bus drivers, secretaries, educational assistants and other classified staff will receive 4% cost-of-living raises in each of the next two school years under a contract approved Monday by the school board.
The agreement adds longevity increases at 15 and 30 years, raises a professional-development stipend from $2,000 to $5,250 and adds 25 cents an hour for evening work. Educational assistants also gain access to a student's IEP or 504 plan before beginning work with that student — a small procedural sentence with a large effect on whether support staff arrive prepared.
Interim Superintendent Shawn Stover separately laid out a three-phase first-100-days plan that includes shadowing students and staff. The district's next dual-immersion update is scheduled for an Aug. 24 work session.
