Eugene's new Sunday screaming club makes its first noise
A small group gathered near Alton Baker Park's canoe canal footbridge for the first Scream Eugene meetup.
An unexpected sound carried across Alton Baker Park Sunday morning: people screaming together, on purpose. Lookout Eugene-Springfield reported that the first gathering of a new group called Scream Eugene took place near the Autzen Canoe Canal Footbridge on October 11.
The inaugural group was small. The idea is uncomplicated: a communal outlet for feelings about the state of the world. Anyone who heard the shrieks around 10:45 a.m. might have wondered what happened. According to the report, it was a planned gathering, not an emergency.
Lookout's account documents the first meetup, but it does not establish a verified schedule for future gatherings.
