4J begins planning cuts for the 2027-28 school year
Officials project another roughly $30 million shortfall, with proposals arriving in stages.
Another round of reductions is taking shape at Eugene School District 4J. Lookout Eugene-Springfield reports that the board voted October 21 to begin planning around a projected 2027-28 deficit of at least $30 million.
Superintendent Miriam Mickelson is expected to bring administrative reductions and high-school schedule proposals in December, followed by teacher and support-staff proposals in February. The estimate is preliminary; the board authorized planning, not a final list of cuts.
Field notes
