Before the cold nights
Freeze watch covers Lane County lowlands for two nights
Temperatures as low as 31 degrees are possible during two overnight windows.
Tender plants may need protection before bedtime Thursday. The National Weather Service has issued freeze watches for the Lane County lowlands, including Eugene, Springfield, Cottage Grove, Junction City and Creswell.
The first window runs from 11 p.m. Thursday, October 22, to 9 a.m. Friday, October 23. The second runs from 11 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday, October 24. All times are Pacific daylight time.
These are watches, not warnings: freezing conditions are possible, not certain. NWS advises protecting sensitive plants, including temporarily bringing vulnerable potted plants indoors.
Field notes
What changed: NWS issued the watches Wednesday evening.
