What this does

A LaneHelp account includes a chosen public handle and profile controls. Public profiles can appear under `/community/your-username` and in Community when their visibility settings allow it.

When to use it

Read this before creating a profile, publishing profile sections, joining an organization, posting in Community, or changing who can find or contact you.

What you need

A LaneHelp account to edit a profile or use social actions. Public pages can be viewed without signing in when the member allows it.

Start with visibility

LaneHelp lists public usernames by default. Account settings let you make the profile public, unlisted, or private; separately control whether it appears in Community; and decide whether search engines may index it. Profile sections stay private unless you publish them.

What a profile can show

  • A chosen handle, avatar, banner, headline, pronouns, bio, region, and links.
  • Public blocks such as contributions, field notes, favorites, skills, posts, flares, badges, and organization affiliations when you enable them.
  • Optional follower counts. People may still follow a public profile when the count itself is hidden.
  • Only content and settings you deliberately make public should be treated as visitor-visible. Browsing and saved items are not automatically published as a personal activity trail.

Community and contact

Community contains member profiles and community posts. Messaging follows the recipient’s permission setting; blocking overrides messaging and following. Signed-in members can report profiles or posts for moderation.

Common questions

Is my LaneHelp profile public by default?

The account flow creates a public handle and defaults the profile to public visibility. You can change it to unlisted or private and remove it from Community in account settings.

Can search engines index my profile?

Only if the profile is public and you separately enable public-profile indexing.
