Creating and managing an account
How to sign up, sign in, manage your profile and favorites, and delete your account.
What this does
An account gives you a chosen public handle plus private saved items, notification choices, contribution tools, organization access, and profile controls.
When to use it
Create one when you want saved items across devices, need to report or submit directory information, use Community features, or manage an organization.
What you need
Use email and password, phone verification, or an enabled Google, Facebook, or Apple sign-in option.

Creating an account
Open the sign-up page
Go to Sign up, or tap the profile icon in the navigation and choose sign up.
Choose a sign-up method
Use email and password, phone verification, or one of the enabled Google, Facebook, or Apple buttons. Available provider buttons are shown on the live sign-up page.
Pick a public handle
LaneHelp lists public usernames by default. Pick something you are comfortable seeing on a public profile; it does not have to be your real name.
Review profile visibility
Open account settings to choose public, unlisted, or private visibility; Community listing; public sections; messaging; and search-engine indexing. See Profiles, visibility, and Community.
Managing your account
- Account settings holds your profile, username, and privacy choices.
- Activity shows your contributions and saved items.
- Notification choices live in account settings and on the pages they relate to. See Notifications.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account from account settings. Deletion removes your profile and saved items. If you cannot sign in to delete it, use the contact form and ask — see Data deletion for details.
Common questions
I forgot my password. What do I do?
On the sign-in page, choose the password reset option and follow the email it sends. If you signed up with Google, use the Google button instead — there is no separate password.
What can appear publicly?
Your chosen handle and any profile sections you publish can appear on your public profile. Public usernames are listed by default, while Community listing, profile sections, messaging, and search indexing have separate controls. Browsing and saved items are not automatically published as a personal activity trail.
If something goes wrong
The sign-in email never arrives.
Check your spam folder and confirm the address is typed correctly. If it still does not arrive after a few minutes, try the Google sign-in option or contact LaneHelp.
Signed in on my phone but not my computer.
Accounts do not sync sign-in itself between devices — sign in on each device once, and your favorites and settings will appear.
