How fixes get made

LaneHelp gets better when people who notice things say so. Here’s how to add a missing place, fix a listing, or report a problem, and what happens after you send it.

What it does
The three ways to improve LaneHelp’s directory, where to find them, and how review works.
Good for
When you’ve spotted something wrong or missing and want to know which button to press.
You’ll need
A free LaneHelp account. A person reviews every listing change, so it helps to know where your information came from.

Which one do you need?#

  • A place is missing from LaneHelp entirelyAdd a missing place. You’ll name it, describe it, and tell reviewers what you know.
  • A listing exists and you know the right detailsFix the listing with Suggest Update. You change only the fields that are wrong.
  • Something is off, but you don’t know the correct answerReport a problem. Pick what looks wrong and add a note if you can.
  • It’s an organization page, not a listingUse Report on that page. No account needed for that one. If it’s your organization, see For organizations.

Where to find the buttons#

  • In Resources — open the directory tools and choose Add/fix (on a phone it says Help). Pick Add missing, Fix listing, or Report, then start typing a name. LaneHelp looks for a match first.
  • On a listing page — the Community Contributions panel has Report Issue and Suggest Update.
  • On a directory card — Suggest update sits on the card, and Report issue is under More.

What happens after you send it#

Nothing changes on the public listing right away. Your submission goes to a review queue. A moderator compares it with the current listing and any proof you gave, then approves it, asks you for more, or turns it down. Approved contributions from signed-in accounts can earn activity points on the Leaderboard.

Open issue reports show on the listing, and other people can add a quick check, like “Called — number works.” Each check is one more piece of evidence for the moderator.

Track what you sent#

Your submissions and reports live under Activity in your account. Each shows a status: pending, needs info, approved, or rejected, plus any moderator notes. If a reviewer needs more, you’ll see Action required and an Add info & resubmit button.

Curious what changed across the whole directory? The public Activity Feed is a running timeline of listing and review updates.

Questions people ask

Do I need an account?
Yes, to add, fix, or report a listing. Reviewers sometimes need to follow up, and approved work earns points. Reporting an organization page is the exception.
What if I’m wrong?
That’s what review is for. Say how sure you are, and a moderator weighs it against what else they know.
How do I know if my fix went through?
Check Activity in your account for the status, then look at the listing once it’s approved.
