Fixing common problems

Pages not loading, location not working, notifications not arriving, texts not answered — the checklist for each.

What this does

The most common LaneHelp problems and their fixes, in one place.

When to use it

Start here whenever something is not working. Each fix is ordered from most likely to least.

What you need

Nothing.

In this guide
Source and freshness notes appear inside each guide where they matter.

Pages will not load or load slowly

  • Check your connection — try any other website. If nothing loads, it is the connection; see Offline and low-signal use for what still works.
  • On a weak signal, use list pages instead of the map: directory and Quick Help are the lightest.
  • Refresh once. If one specific page fails repeatedly while others work, report it with the page address.

Location is not working

  • The browser needs permission: look behind the lock or settings icon next to the address bar and allow location for lanehelp.com.
  • The phone also needs to allow the browser itself to use location — check the phone’s settings for Safari or Chrome.
  • Or skip the fight: type a place. Everything location does, a typed address does too. See Location permissions.

Notifications are not arriving

  • Check the category is actually on in account settings — everything defaults to off.
  • Check the device allows notifications for your browser or the app, in the phone’s own settings.
  • Remember the categories are deliberately quiet — no news can mean nothing notification-worthy happened. Full details in Notifications.

Texts are not being answered

  • Confirm the number: (541) 991-5263. A digit off goes nowhere.
  • If you ever texted STOP, the service is off for your number until you text START.
  • Give it a couple of minutes; replies are quick but not instant. Carrier delays happen.
  • If a specific request confuses it, try a plainer word: “food” instead of a program name. See What you can ask for by text.

Something on the site looks wrong or broken

Wrong information about a service goes through the listing’s Report button — see Reporting a problem. Broken pages, error messages, and confusing behavior go to the contact form: include the page address, what you expected, and what happened instead.

Common questions

Does LaneHelp have a status page?

Major disruptions are posted on the alerts board and the feed. If LaneHelp itself is unreachable, the text service usually still works — it runs separately.

Which browsers does LaneHelp support?

Any current browser: Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Edge, on phones and computers. Very old browsers may render imperfectly but core pages stay readable.
